Learn about our community-based organization
Community Resilience International (CRI) is a refugee-led organization that focuses on economic empowerment of refugees and displaced women. Our principal objective is to equip poorest women living in refugee camps with sustainable livelihood generating tools needed to create lasting positive change. Our development work is specifically anchored in three key areas of focus, which are vocational education, enterprise development, and leadership.

Our Ambition

We target ambitious young refugee women and train them to become change leaders who strive to mobilize desperate women in their communities to start small business cooperatives.

The inspiration for our work comes from the community response and participation. We believe that empowering the most disadvantaged to address pressing social and economic challenges according to their own vision and their own creative potential is key to community transformation!

Our Background

CRI, formerly Hope for Women and Children(HWC), is officially registered as a civil society organization in Tanzania’s Kigoma region with a growing network of over 22 volunteers operating in three refugee camps across the region and in vulnerable east DR Congo communities where we run a series of occupational projects that create 500+ jobs annually.
